One of the best things during the summer is a cool up of lemonade, but one of my
biggest problems is that the storebought lemonade is just never good enough. Or that a
big batch is too much and it’ll go bad before I’m able to finish it. This recipe is great for
hot summer afternoons when you want something good without a ton of effort. Plus, if
you keep lemons in your fridge, you can make fresh lemonade whenever you want
without worrying if the whole pitcher will spoil.
Ingredients:
Juice of one lemon
1 cup of water to a cup and a half
- Add one cup first, then taste to see if it needs the extra half cup or less
3-4 Tbs of spicebush syrup, or more to taste
Ice
A slice of lemon to garnish
Process:
Juice lemon and pour lemon juice into a cup
Add one cup of water to the lemon juice, don’t add in the half cup of water yet
Put in the spicebush syrup and stir everything together
Give it a taste and add the extra half cup, or less depending on how it tastes, and
mix
Add more syrup if it’s too sour or more water if it’s too flavorful; then once it’s at a
good balance top with ice and enjoy!
Variation:
Add a scoop of macerated fruit on top or shake and strain it for a fancy mocktail
Use lime instead of lemon
Use seltzer water instead of water to make it sparkling
Problem Solving:
If it stays too sour/ too lemony no matter how much syrup you add try adding more
water, the lemon juice might be too concentrated
Want to make a big batch?
Use about 1 cup of water per lemon added and add syrup to taste
